i will be moving my blog soon.
probably won't be exporting my entries over so this blog still stays.
but it doesnt really matter anyway. =)
the new address is here:
http://ideegamine.wordpress.com/
it's not completely done up but nothing will change.
i'll continue to post boring entries.
jus that wordpress doesn't have anymore pop-ups, and i don't need a tagboard there anymore.
will be using wordpress until they start charging me for their services.
*if this message gets out to people wrongly, i apologise.
i'm changing not because i don't want people to read it,
just that blogger has been giving me too many problems recently
and i thought its time to move on to a more stable wordpress.

mesmerised by stories, stories, and more stories
"The secret is how to die."
The secret is how to live in Singapore and get the latest novels first hand.
urgh. i know i'm reading 2 books now and 3 others in the queue, to be read.
but i really want that book...!
Ok, here's what happened.
I went into the bookstore yesterday, looked through the author 'B' shelves, and was quite surprise to find that there wasn't one single book by this author in this particular bookstore.
a good bookstore should have, at least, one of this man's work.
so i went to the counter for help.
the employee asked me to write down the title and author on paper.
"Ordinary Thunderstorms by William Boyd, is it?"
"Yes."
"I'm sorry we do not have it at the moment. But it says here on the system that we've placed order for this book on 3rd September. Do you want us to inform you when the books arrive?"
"Yes, thank you."
So i thought i'll go pick up dan brown's new book too but because it's new, all that are available are the hardcover ones. it's $48.
$48 for a book rated sophomoric and disappointing on amazon. $48 for a book described as an unedited "piece of rubbish" by bbc.
Not worth. Definitely not worth.
So I left the mall fairly disappointed.
I should seriously start looking for a good job so i could apply for a credit card
or pray that amazon accepts payment by paypal soon.

Lectures. Good heavens.
School started nearly 2 months back, and Im here now to blog about it.
One reason i weren't really keen on blogging about school was because i have not looked forward to it at all. So what about school that's making me blog now? For one thing, I find it rather interesting to study Humanities again. I mean, the last time i sat in a history class was 7 years ago! I love my history classes even though I don't do well for my papers. Alright, so I went for my first Humanities lesson after this extremely long break and found myself hooked on to the subject once more. The only difference about degree classes is that they openly teach everything you need to know about the subject. Everything. Writers penned historical documents with various ideas and expressions, including blood, violence and sex. Just in the previous lecture, my lecturer elaborated on a piece of satirical work while the ladies in class giggled on. I was too busy noting down every single word he said, and searching for an alternative term for penis. I couldn't find one, of course. So in the end, what was on my notebook was "two meanings: yearning for short sword/dagger(bravery) or his somewhat large p-e-n-i-s". Exactly what my lecturer said, not including his "heh-heh!" of course.
Descriptive words that are not "nice enough" to be used outside like "whore" and "bitch" (amongst the others) can be heard and found in reading materials in licitly permissible forms. Just this week, nude, bloody cartoons and paintings mocking that particular topic we were reading were flashed in class. My lecturer, as usual, laughed at his students' reactions while making quick switches between the cartoons with quick elaborations. I couldn't help but smile at the thought of looking at all these in lectures. My, of course it is fun to attend Humanities classes in university. Keeps you awake most of the time! I mean, aside from looking at the headless paintings, you got to write down everything your lecturer says too. And the best part? Comparing ancient pornography and modern pornography in your tutorial. Now, who's wanting to attend lessons with me? Alright, I have to disclose, these only made up the smaller parts, because there is Shakespeare too.
Yea.
Side tracking abit, Im happy to see my hair growing out! I can see it because of the difference in colour. I want long hair again!!

the Bloodiest Revolution of all times
"it was the best of times, it was the worst of times,
it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,
we had everything before us, we have nothing before us,
we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way"
- Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities, 1859

one of those "trend followers"?
really, i'm not one of those crazy book maniacs you see in those harry potter and twilight phenomenon
and, frankly speaking, am not proud to be one of them too.
unfortunately, i'm a faithful reader of Dan Brown's works and there is this Dan Brown phenomenon rising up after movies adapted from his works all of a sudden
now there are those who really just want to part of the phenomenon than enjoy the essence of his work.
sorry for sounding mean but i really hate that.=(

a tribute
tonight's a cold night. i'm making hot milo to warm myself up.
been raining these few days and i'm quite sure this will go on for the whole month.
listening to BBC proms on radio 3 iplayer (live symphony concert from their Royal Albert Hall)
been following bbc recently and will be for a long time to come due to studies.
was reading a page(or article) i came across with a heavy heart,
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7799610.stm
it's the list of UK soldiers who died in Afghanistan and Iraq.
the list detailed their names, origins, age, ranks, where and how they died; each with individual news article.
most of them in their twenties. some as young as eighteen.
one died while retrieving an afghan soldier's body. "leave no one behind".
i'm deeply saddened by the fact that soldiers are still dying while protecting their countries and people of other countries.
in my head, soldiers no longer die on patrol, or got blasted up by bombs.
but the reality (or news) often struck me that im not living only in my own little country.
perhaps my home is too small, and i have no idea of how dangerous it really is to be a REAL soldier.
but here, i pay my utmost respect to these soldiers who demonstrated bravery.
and not to forget,
Mr Edward Kennedy, Senator of the United States.
Rest well.

read this article on facebook!
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/jan/14/facebook
am sure most if us have hundreds of friends in networking websites like friendster and facebook, most are people whom we have never really spoken to,
sometimes when i read my wall, i question myself,
has approving this friend request made any difference?
since we dont leave mesages for each other at all.
hah! well, i thought about it and probably we could put this way,
that we are all just politely acknowledging our acquaintances,
doesn't sound that bad now right?
