in the past, said my lecturer, when she hadn't known much about painting,
she thought paintings were done mainly (or rather, only) from the "spontaneous overflow of powerful emotions" in painters themselves.
i think that's an excellent way to describe them. you do get carried away sometimes. i believe.
but powerful emotions don't beat careful planning.
must plan! urghs.
